James Reppert - 2013 Grand Marshal
James T. Reppert, Americana Festival Grand Marshal
The 2013 Americana Festival Grand Marshal will be Mr. James Reppert. A long-time festival volunteer, Mr. Reppert recently stepped down from his role of Executive Director, and now serves as a trustee. The Americana Festival Committee elected him as Grand Marshall as a way to recognize and honor him for his long service to the community.
Mr. Reppert attended the U. S. Army Signal Corps Officers Candidate School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army in April, 1952. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars; as well as in Germany, Japan and the Republic of China and at several locations in the Continental United States. Mr. Reppert received numerous awards and decorations for his army service including the Joint Service and Army Commendation medals and the Bronze Star. He is most proud of his Army Good Conduct Medal that he received for enlisted service between 1949 and 1952. Mr. Reppert retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1970.
Mr. Reppert has held positions with industry as well as being self-employed in a variety of occupations. He has served his community as a member of the Centerville City Council and the Board of Architectural Review. He was one of the founders of the Landmarks Foundation of Centerville-Washington Twp. and is one of the founders and is presently serving as a trustee of the Americana Festival, Inc. He is a member of the Centerville-Washington Diversity Council and is a past member of the Fire Dependents Board, Past President of the Centerville-Washington Twp Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club of Centerville and the Dayton Chapter of the Retired Officers Association. Mr. Reppert and his wife Pat, a retired Dental Hygienist, have been married 40 years and have a melded family of 8 children, 10 grand children and 12 great grand children.
