Below are some common questions people have asked about the Americana Festival. If you can't find an answer to your question below, please contact us and we'll be glad to answer it for you.
Is there a charge to attend the Americana Festival?
No. All events, from the street fair to the fireworks display, are free to the public. The 5K run and auto show participants are charged a nominal entry fee to defray expenses and to raise funds to support other festival activities.
Where can I park?
Plenty of free parking is available at three main locations:
- The North Lot is located at Incarnation Church at Rt. 48 and Williamsburg Lane. This lot is a short walk from the children's activities at the Park District's activity center.
- Another lot is available at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, at 100 South Main Street.
- A handicap-accessible and general parking lot is available at the Cross Point Church municipal parking lot on Maple Street and at the municipal parking lot adjacent to the Old Town Hall.
Is the festival always held on July 4th?
The festival is held on July 4th unless July 4th is a Sunday, in which case the festival is held on Monday, July 5th.
Is the festival a one-day event?
Yes. There are peripheral events, however, that are held on other dates. Check the Festival Events page for a listing of all events.
Does my vehicle have to be an antique or classic car to be in the show?
No, all vehicles are welcome! Many entries are relatively new cars that are in some way unique or rare.
When do the festivities begin?
Check the Festival Events page for a complete listing of event dates and times.
What happens if it rains?
All activities will still go on, rain or shine, with the exception of the fireworks. If the fireworks are rained out, they will take place the following night at the same time.
What streets are closed to traffic on the day of the festival?
Franklin Street from Clyo Road to Virginia Avenue will be blocked from 7:00am to 12:00pm for the 5K run and parade.
North Main Street (Route 48) from Williamsburg Lane south to Franklin Street will be closed from 7:00am to 6:00pm for the street fair.
What if I have a question while I'm at the festival?
You can check in with any of the following people: Police officers, paramedics on bike patrol, or staff at the Americana Information or City of Centerville booths (located at the entrance to Benham's Grove).
Will the parade be televised?
Yes, the parade will be televised in its entirety by the Miami Valley Communications Council (MVCC). For scheduled air showings, call the MVCC at 438-8887.
What time do the events wrap up?
The street fair will wind down at 5:00pm, but the entertainment starts up again at Centerville High School around 8:30pm for the fireworks display at 10:00pm.
